When did you start CrossFit?

Elements Program, February 2016

Why did you get into fitness and CrossFit?

I started CrossFit after hearing stories of crazy workouts and movements from my friend, Celina. Being a runner of 6 years I considered myself to be in good shape. I was wrong!

As I was approaching my 40th birthday, I figured it was time to spend less time in the bar and start getting into better physical shape. My youngest brother was a runner so I decided to buy a pair of shoes and give it a shot. A few years later I was completing half marathons and enjoying events, but found running on my own incredibly boring. Celina, one of my volleyball team-mates and also a runner, had recently started CrossFit. I witnessed her transformation from the typical runner’s body to a toned, well-balanced frame. She was stronger, faster and more agile. I asked her a bunch of questions to learn more and she encouraged me to give Hybrid Farm a try.

Why did you become a coach?

I earned my CF-L1 Certificate in 2018 with the idea of possibly coaching at some point, but was primarily interested in learning how to better understand and develop my own knowledge base and skill set. Since then I have recognized the opportunity to help others with their own journey to health and fitness.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

It’s difficult to say what my favorite movement is, as I enjoy learning and working movements to increase my proficiency.  If there was a workout where I would do better than average, it would involve handstand pushups, overhead squats, and running.

What’s your favorite cheat meal?

My cheat meal would be lasagna and chocolate chip cookies, washed down with a beer.

How do you like to spend your time when you’re not at the gym?

If I am not at work or working out, I enjoy playing volleyball, wrenching on vehicles, and hanging out with friends and family.
