Leo joined the Hybrid Farm on DAY 1. He was in our original Project Origin class that launched on August 29th, 2015. This man has made strides in his first year that show us all what’s possible when someone is truly committed to improving their health and fitness.
And while, if you ask him, he’ll tell you he’s got a long ways to go; Leo truly inspires those around him through fitness.

Announcer: Leo, I know you go to Hybrid Farm. So, how’s that going for you and what is this Project Origin thing I keep hearing about?
Leo: Well, Project Origin is really the beginner’s portion of becoming a CrossFit athlete. My wife became ill back in 2013, and I was a bit overweight. She looked me deep in the eyes and said, “I want you to take better care of yourself for you, your kids and your grand-kids.”
I did do a lot of research, did a lot of reading. I actually had a personal trainer for a while. Tried to eat right but, when you’re by yourself , you just don’t get that same enthusiasm and the same drive. Hybrid Farm allowed the team members to actually come together and push you.
Originally my daughter has been CrossFitting for 3-4 years. She is in phenomenal shape and I wanted some of that. I questioned about how old I am and being able to do that. She said, “Dad you go at your own pace. It doesn’t matter how old you are.” She says, you can do it.”
I found out the Hybrid Farm was coming to Rice Lake and opening up a CrossFit gym. I made the call to figure out what Project Origin was. I figured I could commit to three days a week for six weeks. So that’s how I got my feet wet.
I’ve lost over 45 pounds of fat and I am probably the strongest I have ever been in my entire life. Rob and Ryan Avery and the other coaches that are there encourage you to come and workout every day that you can and they push you, they encourage you, it’s quite a family.
Sounds like a great experience Leo. If you want to see what all the talk is about go to www.thehybridfarm.com and sign up now for the next session of their six week beginners on-ramp, Project Origin, Launching October 22nd.
